NEW DELHI: India’s Test captain and T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill was among the senior players who reported to BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for fitness analysis tests on Saturday (August 30).Gill, named deputy to Suryakumar Yadav for the Asia Cup 2025, arrived at the CoE alongside India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and allrounder Shardul Thakur, among others.Gill and Bumrah are both part of India’s Asia Cup squad, while Rohit is using the camp to sharpen his preparations for the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia in October-November.Gill had to miss the ongoing Duleep Trophy quarterfinal against East Zone, where he was slated to lead North Zone, due to a bout of flu.He was recuperating at his home in Chandigarh before travelling to Bengaluru.There is growing speculation that Rohit, along with Virat Kohli, could feature for India A in the three-match ODI series against Australia A, scheduled for September 30, October 3 and October 5 at Green Park in Kanpur. The series is expected to provide the two stalwarts with valuable match practice ahead of the senior team’s three-match ODI series in Australia, beginning October 19 in Perth.The 38-year-old Rohit last turned out competitively in June for Mumbai Indians’ outing in the IPL. His most recent outing for India came in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai, where he struck 76 off 83 balls and earned the Player of the Match award. The veteran opener announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 7.
